Maybe she’s going in a different direction or maybe this plot just has too much to explain for a first book of the series. I’m not sure what the issue was but the story didn’t flow like her other stories. It felt repetitive and stagnant in places. The normal humor I expect with her writing was also noticeably absent. Character development seemed subpar to me as well. How does Scott just flip into a different person once we know his motivation? I wasn’t drawn into the character’s personalities like I normally would be. It was like reading an vague outline instead of a fully developed character. The ending felt more like a cliffhanger than a HFN to me. I hope the second book redeems this series for me because I usually really love her books. Oooh! This was good! I have loved this author’s VRC and Hitmen series and am super stoked for another new supernatural obsession. This one definitely fit the bill. It was gripping with plenty of action and of course her signature humor throughout. Quinn and Rowan were awesome MCs. I loved the catnip snorting and the cat app. So freaking hilarious! Also, this book was very well edited. I didn’t spot any errors, and I’m really picky about that sort of thing. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. At least it won’t be too long.
